AIR JORDAN XII 12 was first released in January of 1997, and retailed for $135. It features a white, black and red colorway. A small detail that’s really nice about the shoes is the way the creators wrote “23” on the tongue, by actually spelling out the “2”, so it says “TWO 3”.
The shoes' stitching is reminiscent of sun rays, as the shoe is modeled after the Nisshoki, which is the Japanese rising sun flag, as well as a 19th century women’s dress boot. The red portion features a lizard print design, reminiscent of the Air Jordan 2 (II). Besides that, the shoes feature specs such as leather uppers, carbon fiber sheath and Air sole, as well as a quick lacing system.
It’s no secret that many Air Jordan fanatics are less than pleased with the changes that Jordan Brand has made to some recent and upcoming Retro releases. Whether it be the alternate materials or colors that have appeared on some Jordan classics, lately many sneakerheads have been left feeling unfulfilled by the subtle changes.
Luckily for everybody though, the White/Varsity Red edition of the Air Jordan XII seems to have undergone little to no transformation from its original form. The colors and materials appear to be spot-on, leaving all those Jordan purists with not much to complain about.
